David Hutchins Fund Manager, Newland Fund Management LLP

David began his career in 1979 with the Melbourne Stock Exchange, subsequently becoming an executive director of M&G Investment Management. He headed the International Desk at M&G Investment Management from April 1995, where he also held responsibility for M&G's investments in the precious metals and commodities sector globally. He left M&G Investment Management in December 1996 and has since been involved in Fund Management at Yorkton Securities and as a consultant at AWI Administration Services in Australia. He was a founding director of Resources Investment Trust plc at the launch in January 2002 and is Chief Executive of Ocean Resources Capital Holdings plc. David is also non-executive chairman of Commodity Watch plc, and a non-executive director of Australian listed Pan Palladium Limited.
Kjeld Thygesen Fund Manager, Newland Fund Management LLP
A graduate of the University of Natal in South Africa, Kjeld joined African Selection Trust in 1970, managing a portfolio of South African mining companies. In 1972 he joined James Capel and Co. in London as part of their highly rated gold and mining research team. In 1979 he joined N M Rothschild & Sons Limited where he was manager of its Commodities and Natural Resources Department, becoming an executive director of N M Rothschild Asset Management Limited in 1984 and N M Rothschild International Asset Management Limited in 1987. He co-founded Lion Resource Management Limited in 1989, an FSA regulated and SEC registered specialist investment manager in the mining and natural resources sector.

John has over 30 years experience working in the operations, risk and compliance areas of stockbrokers working for the leading firms of Hoare Govett, Merrill Lynch and was the Risk Manager of Credit Suisse Securities until the company closed down. After this he did some contract work before joining Royal Asset Management on trade risk giving him an insight into the buy side prospective. He is a Associate of the Securities Institute.
